Celts Play in National Championship

The University of St. Thomas volleyball team qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Volleyball National Championship for the first time since the Celts joined the Red River Athletic Conference in 2011. The Celts have previously qualified for the national tournament winning the Association of Independent Institutions in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
 

The University of St. Thomas volleyball team qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Volleyball National Championship for the first time since the Celts joined the Red River Athletic Conference in 2011. The Celts have previously qualified for the national tournament winning the Association of Independent Institutions in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In the opening round, the Celts will play MidAmerica Nazarene University at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17 in Olathe, Kan. This will be the first meeting of the season between the two schools.

The winner of the match will advance to the 24-team NAIA Volleyball National Championship final site on Nov. 27-Dec. 1 at the Tyson Event Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Iowa.

UST had a 19-16 regular season record and placed third in the RRAC at 8-3 in conference play. The Celts placed second at the conference tournament, receiving an automatic berth.
